Notice: Scheduled Fire Hydrant Flushing
Please be advised that the Water Department will be conducting routine fire hydrant flushing on Betty Street and Allen Street. This maintenance is essential to ensure high water quality and to verify the proper operation of the fire protection system.
Schedule Details
Location: Betty Street and Allen Street
Date: Thursday, May 13th 2026
Time: All Day
What to Expect
During the flushing process, you may experience the following:
Temporary Pressure Drops: You may notice a slight decrease in water pressure while crews are working nearby.
Water Discoloration: Sediments in the pipes may be stirred up, causing the water to appear yellow, brown, or "rusty." The water remains safe, but we recommend avoiding certain tasks until the water runs clear.
Resident Recommendations
Check Before Use: Run your cold water tap for a few minutes before drinking, cooking, or showering.
Avoid Laundry: Do not wash whites or light-colored clothing during the scheduled hours, as the sediment can cause staining.
Clear Your Lines: If you experience discoloration, run the cold water faucet in your bathtub or an outdoor hose bib for several minutes until the water is clear.
